BSE, CHBC Drop Girls Basketball Losses

BROWNSTOWN -- Vandalia High School's Anna Forbes was too much to handle as the Vandals claimed a 55-48 victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo in girls basketball Wednesday evening.

Forbes connected on five field goals and was 14 of 18 at the line.

BSE took a 24-16 halftime lead but Forbes provided a big third quarter for the Vandals who moved ahead 37-33 going into the final period Forbes connected on two field goals but was perfect at the line, shooting 12 of 12 and finished with 16 points in the quarter.

Megan Lupton scored 14 points for the Vandals. The big statistic came at the free throw line as Vandalia hit 29 of 39.

BSE was led by Lexi Seabaugh with 16 points on six field goals, one a three-pointer, and three of three at the line. BSE fnished with 15 of 21 from the free throw line.

At Cowden

Tri-County ran out to a 26-2 opening quarter lead and went on for a 58-43 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Wednesday evening.

Tri-County held a 41-8 halftime lead.

Armstrong scored 24 for the winners while Barry added 18.

CHBC was led by Ruby Stuckemeyer with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Marissa Summers had five assists. The Bobcats dropped to 9-5 on the season.

In the junior varsity contest, CHBC claimed a 37-27 win. Karlee Smith tallied 13 for the winners while Shae Nohren added 12. CHBC's junior varsity improved to 4-5.
