SEB Wins Opener At Own Tourney, N.C. Claims Win At Conrad Allen Meet

ST. ELMO -- St. Elmo/Brownstown opened its own boys basketball tournament Tuesday evening with a 63-35 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

SEB had seven players score in the opening quarter 19-9 run. Josiah Maxey and Cade Schaub knocked in a three-pointer each while Caleb Campbell and Adam Atwood scored four points each.

The lead went to 41-18 at halftime. Campbell and Jarrett Pasley scored six points each for the winners. Pasley had a three-pointer, a regular basket and a free throw while Campbell hit three two-pointers.

The two teams played to a 13-13 third quarter while SEB had a 9-4 final period.

Campbell led the way for SEB with eight field goals for 16 points. Pasley, Wyatt Stine and Atwood scored nine points each in even scoring. Lorton pulled down 14 rebounds and had two steals.

CHBC was led by Kaidyn Calame with 10 points and Gage Lorton with nine.

In the opening contest, Hillsboro was a 68-35 winner over Mulberry Grove.

St. Elmo/Brownstown will now meet Hillsboro at 7:45 p.m. Thursday while CHBC and Mulberry Grove will square off at 6:15.

Tonight's contests feature Cumberland against Ramsey at 6:15 followed by Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg taking on Patoka/Odin at 7:45.

Conrad Allen Tournament

North Clay (Louisville) claimed its second victory at the Conrad Allen Tournament in Wayne City Tuesday evening.

The Cardinals easily downed Grayville by an 82-37 count.

North Clay held a 24-17 opening quarter lead then blew the game open, outscoring Grayville 49-15 over the next two quarters.

Logan Fleener led the Cardinals with 23 points on 11 field goals and one of one at the free throw line. Alex Boose chipped in with 20 points on eight field goals that included three trifectas and was one of two at the line. Also in double figures was Cody Zimdars with 10 points.

In the second contest of the evening, Lovejoy handed South Central a 62-47 loss.

Lovejoy took a 33-22 halftime lead. Lovejoy's Shantez Holliday went on a second period run, putting in five baskets and five free throws for 15 of the 19 points.

South Central's Aidan Dodson scored seven points in the second quarter.

Lovejoy then had a 29-25 second half. Holliday totaled 28 points while Pierre Lucas added 17 and Jeremy McLorn tallied 10.

The Cougars were led by Dodson with 23 points on nine field goals that included five three-pointers. Ethan Watwood and Anthony Buonaura scored nine each.

In the final contest of the evening, Wayne City won over Sandoval, 55-36.

North Clay improved to 2-0 in Pool A while South Central dropped to 0-2 in Pool C.

The tourney continues tonight with Sandoval against Crab Orchard at 6 p.m. followed by Hamilton County JV taking on Cisne at 7:30.
