Effingham St. Anthony claimed two victories over Effingham in junior high boys basketball competition Thursday.

The Bullpups captured the seventh-grade contest, 36-24 after trailing 9-0 in the first quarter. St. Anthony came back within 16-11 at halftime then had a 16-4 third quarter run to push ahead, 27-20. St. Anthony continued its surge with a 9-4 final period.

Connor Storm tallied 20 points for the winners.

Effingham was led by Fox with 11.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony ran off to a 15-3 opening quarter lead and never looked back in a 40-24 victory.

The Bullpups had two players hit double figures. M. Waldhoff led with 14 while G. Wilhour added 10. St. Anthony improved to 6-5.

Effingham was led by Santillian with eight.

At Teutopolis

Teuotpolis captured two wins over Vandalia Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade game, 45-15 by stepping out to a 31-10 halftime lead.

Eric Weidner, Payne Davidson and Jake Probst tallied 10 points each for the Shoes.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town was a 53-39 winner. The Shoes had a 27-14 halftime lead.

Three players hit double figures for the Shoes. Jake Kocher had 12 while Teagan Pals added 11 and Ross Bloemer 10.

At Louisville

Jasper County traveled to North Clay and split victories with the homestanders Thursday.

Jasper County won the seventh-grade encounter, 46-33. North Clay held a 12-11 opening quarter lead and led 22-20 at halftime. Jasper County came back with a 16-10 third period and had a 10-7 final quarter.

Chance Mulvey led the winners with 16 points. Jasper County is unbeaten at 10-0.

North Clay was led by Keller with 13.

In eighth-grade action, North Clay came out a 45-42 victor. North Clay trailed Jasper County 27-20 at halftime and led 32-27 going into the final period. North Clay came back with an 18-10 run to claim the victory.

Griffy led North Clay with 26 while Schnepper added 10. North Clay improved to 5-4 on the season.

Jasper County was led by Hayden Mulvey with 16. Jasper County dropped to 3-9.
