Effingham Sacred Heart claimed victories over Altamont in seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball action Thursday.

The Shamrocks won the seventh-grade game, 36-25. Leading Sacred Heart was Daegen Mooney with 23 points.

In eighth-grade action, Sacred Heart claimed a 51-33 win. Jude Traub led the Shamrocks with 26 points.

 

At Effingham

Effingham and Charleston split victories Thursday evening.

The seventh-grade Mustangs downed Charleston, 38-21. EJHS took a 13-4 opening quarter lead and led 22-7 at halftime.

Pals scored 19 for the Mustangs while Fox added 10. EJHS is now 3-2 on the season.

In the eighth-grade contest, Charleston pushed ahead 15-5 in the opening quarter and had a 19-4 third period surge.

Effingham was led by Carter Braddy with nine points.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony put together a 40-19 victory over Mattoon in the seventh-grade contest Thursday.

The Bullpups held a 16-7 halftime lead then had a 16-10 third quarter and finished strong.

Connor Storm scored 10 points while seven other players hit net for the Bullpups who improve to 7-1.

Mattoon tallied a 45-36 win over St. Anthony in eighth-grade action.

The Bullpups edged out to a 12-10 opening quarter lead then led 19-14 at halftime. Mattoon came back with a 7-3 third period to pull within 22-21. Mattoon then had a 13-12 final period to tie the score at 34-34, sending the contest into overtime.

In the overtime period, Mattoon had an 11-2 run for the win.

St. Anthony was led by G. Wilhour with 12 and M. Waldhoff with eight.

At Toledo

Teutopolis was a winner over Cumberland in both contests Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes had 10 players score in the seventh-grade game in a 37-8 win.

Will Bushur led the way with seven points while Clint Waldhoff added six.

The Shoes led 30-2 at halftime.

Cumberland was led by Shoemaker with three points.

In the eighth-grade game, T-town took a 24-4 halftime lead and went on for a 43-15 victory.

Ross Bloemer scored nine while Jake Kocher added eight in the win.

Cumberland was led by Keiser with five points.

At Dieterich

Dieterich captured the seventh-grade contest while South Central was a winner in eighth-grade play Thursday evening.

In the seventh-grade game, Dietreich ran off to an 18-5 opening quarter lead and that was the contest. C. Stortzum scored 17 while B. Schottman tallied 15 for the winners.

South Central was led by Aiden Hoover with six.

In the eighth-grade contest, South Central captured a 25-17 victory.

Dieterich took a 3-2 first quarter lead but South Central came back with a 7-0 second period and went on for the win.

Luke Shumate and Garrett Shumate tallied eight points each for the winners.

French led Dieterich with nine.

North Clay (Louisville) tallied a 45-30 win over Windsor in seventh-grade play Thursday.

In the eighth-grade game, North Clay was a 50-16 winner.
