JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL

THURSDAY, NOV. 3 GAMES

Effingham handed Effingham St. Anthony two losses.

In the seventh-grade contest, the Mustangs won 37-7. St. Anthony scored all seven points in the first half. EJHS led 19-7 then had an 18-0 second half.

Emery Spicer led the way for Effingham with 13 points while Nora Cekander added 10.

Budde led St. Anthony with four.

The eighth-grade game went to the Mustangs 28-18. Effingham held a 17-13 halftime lead then had a 11-5 second half.

T. Raddatz led the Mustangs with nine points.

St. Anthony was led by Denning with eight.

At Beecher City

Altamont came calling and went home with two victories over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Thursday.

Altamont was a 31-10 winner in seventh-grade play. Altamont held CHBC scoreless while taking a 15-0 first half lead then had a 16-16 second half.

Leading the winners were Kuenstler, Roberts and Scholes with six points each.

CHBC was led by Ethel Stuckemeyer and Allison Shields with six points each. CHBC fell to 3-4 in the National Trail Conference 7-10 overall.

In the eighth-grade game, Altamont won 28-18.

Altamont edged out to a 12-10 first half lead then broke loose with a 16-8 second half for the 28-18 win.

Kuenstler led the way for the winners with 10 points.

CHBC was led by Lena Bowlin with 12 points as the squad fell to 3-4 in the NTC, 9-8 overall.

At Beecher City

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) won over Jasper-Fairfield in seventh-grade play, 28-5 Thursday.

In the eighth-grade contest, North Clay won 26-25,.

 

FRIDAY, NOV. 4 GAMES

Effingham handed Dieterich losses in both games.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest, 37-4. Effingham took an 18-0 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Emery Spicer led the way for Effingham with 17 points.

Leading Dieterich were A. Niemerg and Stortzum with two each.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham ran off to a 20-6 halftime lead but Dieterich came back with a 15-12 second half but it was too little to overcome the opening half.

Drew Weis led the Mustangs with 11 points.

Dieterich was led by Flach with 12.

At Casey-Westfield

Teutopolis was an easy winner over Casey-Westfield in both games.

The Wooden Shoes claimed the seventh-grade contest, 35-9 with a 23-2 second half run after leading 12-7 at halftime.

McMahon led T-town with 10 points as the team improved to 15-1.

In eighth-grade play, T-town was a 48-9 winner. Casey-Westfield scored all nine points in the first half.

Pals and Gaddis tallied 10 points each for T-town. The Shoes are now 12-4.

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) and Stewardson-Strasburg split victories.

North Clay claimed the seventh-grade game, 21-18. Stew-Stras took an 11-8 opening half lead before North Clay came back with a 13-7 second half to pull out the win.

Wittenberg led the way with 10 points as Stew-Stras moved to 4-3 in the National Trail Conference, 8-7 overall.

North Clay was led by Zink with six.

In the eighth-grade game, Stew-Stras tallied a 44-17 win.

Stew-Stras led 29-10 at halftime and kept the pressure on in the third quarter with an 11-3 run.

Hayes tallied 25 for the winners. Stew-Stras is now 4-3 in the NTC, 10-5 overall.

North Clay was led by Ruesken with nine.

SATURDAY, NOV. 5 GAMES

Mount Zion played host to Effingham St. Anthony and sent the Bullpups home with two losses.

Mount Zion won the seventh-grade contest, 35-3 holding St. Anthony to three third quarter points.

Stephens tallied all three points.

In the eighth-grade contest, Mount Zion edged the Bullpups, 18-17.

Mount Zion held a 10-5 opening half lead. St. Anthony came back with a 12-8 second half but fell short.

St. Anthony was led by Lauritzen with eight points.

At Rochester

Effingham played in the Rochester Shootout Saturday.

In seventh-grade action, Effingham fell in both contests.

The Mustangs lost to Rochester, 24-16. Rochester led 10-9 at halftime then had a 14-7 second half.

Effingham was led by Emery Spicer with five points.

Bethalto Trimpe then edged the Mustangs, 16-15. Bethalto led 12-8 at halftime but Effingham came back within 13-12 in the third period but Bethalto maintained that one point lead the rest of the way.

Spicer and Kaegyn Koester scored six points each.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham dropped both contests.

The Mustangs fell to Rochester, 33-24. Effingham held a 9-8 opening quarter lead but Rochester moved ahead 18-14 at halftime and held a 24-19 third quarter lead.

The Mustangs were led by Melia Wendling with 11 points.

In the loss to Bethalto Trimpe, Effingham again led after the opening quarter, 12-11 and led 22-20 at halftime. But Bethalto came back with a 15-2 third period and that was the game.

The Mustangs were led by Drew Weis with 18 points.
