The Illinois Basketball  Coaches Assocaition has hopes for the Basketball Museum of Illinois to finally become a reality.

According to reports by Jim Taylor of RFD Radio and Muddy River Sports, a location has been found with the Wintrust Sports Complex and Village of Bedford Park. Bedford Park is near Midway Airport and not far from downtown Chicago.

The Wintrust Sports Complex opened last fall and features 100,000 square feet of basketball courts along with volleyball courts, arcade games, family entertainment and much more.

It could become the home of the Basketball Museum of Illinios.

Bruce Firchau, chairman of the Basketball Museum of Illinois, announced at the IBCA Hall of Fame banquet back in April that the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and the Basketball Museum of Illinois have entered into a partnership.

They are looking into installing memorabilia in the hallways of the complex along with hosting coach and player clinics and a virtual Hall of Fame experience. Monitors will be installed to give users Illinois basketball history.

However, the Basketball Museum of Illinois has to raise between $3 and $5 million to keep the facility in operation. That's why a partner was found with Wintrust Sports Complex.

The museum will highlight the history of every county in the state including junior high, high school, college and pro players, both boys and girls.
