Paris Hands T-town Loss In Girls Sectional

MONTICELLO -- Teutopolis High School saw its season come to a close in the Class 2A Monticello Girls Basketball Sectional Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes fell to Paris, 39-32. Paris opened with a 9-6 first quarter run as Kaitlyn Coombes tallied five of those points. The Tigers led 20-14 at halftime.

Teutopolis came back with a 12-9 third quarter as five players scored. Zoe Cremens and Isabella Hardiek connected on a three-pointer each and the Shoes had pulled within 29-26 going into the final quarter.

But Paris regrouped and connected on six of seven free throws to claim the victory.

Paris was led by Kaitlyn Coombes with 15 points and Madyson Rigdon with 13. The Tigers improved to 28-4 on the season. T-town and Paris met on Dec. 20 and Paris edged the Shoes 51-49 during regular season play.

T-town did not have a player in double figures. Emily Konkel led the way with nine points while Kaitlyn Schumacher and Isabella Hardiek scored eight each. The Wooden Shoes end the season with a 21-8 record.

In the opening game, Pana downed Marshall 54-36. Marshall ended with a 23-7 record while Pana advanced with a 33-1 mark.

Paris and Pana will meet for the sectional championship Thursday at 7 p.m.
