EHS Falls, Shoes, Pirates Nab Boys Cage Victories

Mahomet-Seymour came calling and handed Effingham a 54-41 loss in Apollo Conference boys basketball play Saturday.

The Bulldogs led 19-9 at halftime. The Hearts came on with a 20-13 third period run to pull within 32-29. But Mahomet-Seymour got back on track with a 22-12 final period run.

The Hearts were led by Logan Heil with 13 points, Andrew Splechter with eight and Garrett Wolfe with seven.

At Effingham

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis High School picked up a 62-46 victory over Robinson Saturday.

The Maroons stepped out to a 22-12 opening quarter lead but the Wooden Shoes flipped the second quarter and came back with a 22-6 run to move ahead 34-28 at halftime.

The Shoes then had a 19-14 third period and outscored the Maroons 8-4 in the final quarter.

Caleb Siemer led the way for T-town with 20 points on eight field goals and four of four at the free throw line. Also in double figures was Max Niebrugge with 12. Standing on the edge of double figures were Dylan Pruemer and James Niebrugge with nine points each.

Siemer led the way in rebounds with six. M. Niebrugge had five assists. T-town improved to 19-7 on the season.

Cumberland High School stepped out to a 14-8 opening quarter lead and went on for a 50-36 victory over Tri-County Saturday.

Six players scored for the Pirates in the opening quarter lead. Cumberland led 22-16 at halftime and 36-28 going into the final quarter.

Three players hit double digits for the Pirates. Jaxon Boldt led the way with 13 points while Wiley Peters added 12 and Elijah McElravy 10.
