Effingham Sacred Heart handed Sigel St. Michael a 45-29 loss in the championship game of the Class 1A Sacred Heart Boys Basketball Regional Thursday.

The Shamrocks stepped out to a 12-3 opening quarter lead and had a 21-8 second period.

Jude Traub tallied 24 to lead the Shamrocks while Jacob Warner had 10.

St. Michael was led by Bryce Niebrugge with 14.

Sacred Heart now advances to the Sigel St. Michael Sectional Wednesday, February 2 and will meet Pana Sacred Heart, a 50-13 winner over Pocahontas in its own regional Thursday evening.

Class 7-3A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis handily won its own regional championship by downing Jasper County, 43-13 Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes led 23-6 at halftime and had a 20-7 second half.

Only one player hit double figures for the Shoes but nine players scored in the game. Teagan Pals led the way with 10 points while Jake Kocher and Carson Cornell had eight each.

T-town will now head to the Paris Mayo Sectional Wednesday, February 2 and take on Shelbyville Moulton at 6:30 p.m. Moulton won the Tuscola East Prairie Regional by edging the host team, 30-29 Thursday evening.
