Teutopolis JV Finish Third, Cumberland Eighth At Vandalia Tournament

Teutopolis junior varsity finished third at the Vandalia Hoilday Tournament.

VANDALIA -- Teutopolis Junior High School captured third place at the Vandalia Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes picked up a 49-35 victory over Shelbyville.

Cumberland fell to Flora 44-36 in the seventh place contest. The two teams were knotted at 9-9 after the first period.

The Wolves moved ahead 18-16 at halftime and had a 14-12 third period to lead 32- 28.

In the final quarter, Flora continued to control the scoring pace with a 12-8 final period for the victory.

The Wolves were led by Trenton Harrell with 13 points.

Cumberland was led by Gavin Hendrix with 12 points and Trevin Magee with nine on three trifectas.

In other games Thursday, Pana won the championship with a 65-38 win over Meridian. Okaw Valley defeated Father McGivney 46-27 for ninth place. Nokomis edged Vandalia 53-51 for fifth place.
