Effingham Sacred Heart and Stewardson-Strasburg advanced in the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament Saturday.

Sacred Heart was a 41-29 winner over South Central.

Stewardson-Strasburg downed North Clay (Louisville), 41-26. Stew-Stras held a 19-10 halftime lead then had a 16-5 third quarter run.

Pruemer led the way for the winners with 14 points. North Clay was led by Wolfe with 11.

Stew-Stras improved to 9-4 and will meet Sacred Heart at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

South Central moved on with a 35-21 win over Altamont. The winners took a 21-6 halftime lead and never looked back.

South Central was led by Neilson with 15 points and Shumate with seven.

Altamont was led by Lurkins with seven.

South Central, seeded seventh, advanced to meet second-seeded Sacred Heart and fell, 39-29.

Sacred Heart held a 20-12 halftime lead then had a 19-17 second half for the win.

Jude Traub scored 19 to lead the Shamrocks while Jacob Wolner scored 12.

South Central was led by Garrett Shumate with 14.

No other scores were reported for the tournament.

Sacred Heart advanced to a 7:30 p.m. contest Tuesday. South Central will play at 7:30 p.m. today.

At Effingham

Effingham and Teutopolis split seventh- and eighth-grade B boys basketball contests.

In the seventh-grade B game, Teutopolis was a 67-14 winner. T-town was led by Michael Habing with 13. Effingham was led by Gio Santillian with seven.

In the eighth-grade B contest, Effingham picked up a 48-25 win. The Mustangs were led by Max Flack with 11.

T-town was led by Ross Bloemer with six.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony fell to Olney in junior high boys eighth-grade basketball action, 59-44.

Olney held an 18-11 opening quarter lead but St. Anthony came back on the scoring of Aiden Lauritzen to lead 30-26. Lauritzen connected on four baskets for eight points.

Olney took a 44-32 third quarter lead and finished out with the win.

Laurtizen led the way for the Bullpups with 22 points.

In the seventh-grade contest, St. Anthony was a 36-26 winner.

The Bullpups edged out to a 6-5 opening quarter lead and led 17-8 at halftime then had a 13-9 third period run.

Graiden Wilhour scored 13 while Miles Waldhoff added 12. The Bullpups are now 8-7 on the season.
