Sigel St. Michael won the championship of its own Class 8-1A Girls Basketball Regional Thursday.

The Sharpshooters easily handled Neoga, 46-5. St. Michael now advances to the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional Wednesday, December 8 to meet the winner of the Kincaid South Fork Regional, either Pana Sacred Heart or Kincaid South Fork. Those two teams play today at 7 p.m.

 

Class 8-2A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis moved into the title contest of its own regional with a win Thursday evening.

The Wooden Shoes trounced Dieterich, 53-6. T-town held a 31-2 halftime lead.

Anna Probst led the Shoes with 18 points while Malea Helmink added 10.

Dieterich was led by Miller with four.

In the second contest, Edwards County (Albion) defeated Effingham St. Anthony, 37-2.

T-town will face Edwards County today at 7 p.m. for the regional championship.

Class 8-2A Madison Regional

Brownstown/St. Elmo and Altamont moved into the championship game of the Madison Regional with a victory Thursday.

BSE edged Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 24-20.

The two teams played to a 2-2 opening quarter tie before CHBC took an 8-2 halftime lead. BSE came back with a 10-6 third period and had a 6-4 final quarter to tie the game at 18-18 sending the contest into overtime. In the overtime period, BSE had a 6-2 run to pull out a 24-20 win.

M. Miller and Booher led BSE with six points each.

CHBC was led by Madison Dawson with six points. The team ended the season with a 9-14 record.

Altamont edged Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 25-21 in the second game.

BSE advances to face Altamont tonight for the regional championship at 5.

Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Cumberland fell in the championship game of the Paris Mayo Regional Thursday.

Marshall tallied a 27-18 victory. Marshall now advances to the Robinson Nuttall Sectional Wednesday, December 8 and will take on Sullivan at 6:30 p.m.

  

Regional championship tonight:

Effingham will be playing for the Class 8-4A Regional championship tonight at home. The Mustangs will face Mount Zion at 6 p.m. for the title.

The winner advances to the Mahomet-Seymour Sectioal Wednesday, December 8 against host Mahomet-Seymour at 6:30 p.m.
