Sigel St. Michael advanced to the championship game of the Class 1A Effingham Sacred Heart Girls Basketball Regional Monday evening.

The Sharpshooters defeated Martinsville, 37-16.

Taking the second victory was Oakland Lake Crest over Effingham Sacred Heart, 16-10.

St. Michael now faces Oakland Lake Crest at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the regional championship.

 


Class 2A Brownstown Regional

Altamont won the opening game at the Brownstown Regional Monday evening.

Altamont easily won over South Central, 24-6.

Altamont now meets Brownstown/St. Elmo today at 6:15 p.m. followed by  Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 7:30.

 

Class 2A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis advanced to the championship of its own regional Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes defeated Effingham St. Anthony, 44-20. The Shoes edged ahead 8-6 in the opening quarter and led 22-15 at halftime. T-town then had a 22-5 second half.

Gabby Tegeler scored 18 for the winners while Kylie Borries added 10.

St. Anthony was led by Denning with eight.

In the second game, Edwards County (Albion) edged Dieterich, 24-21.

T-town now advances to meet Edwards County for the regional championship today at 6 p.m.

Class 2A Teutopolis Regional

Class 3A Paris Mayo Regional

The two local teams suffered defeats in the Paris Mayo Regional Monday evening.

Jasper County fell to Paris Mayo, 25-11 while Cumberland lost to Robinson Nuttall, 27-13.

Paris Mayo and Robinson Nuttall square off for the championship at 6:30 p.m. today.

 

Class 4A Taylorville Regional

No activity in the Taylorville Regional last night but tonight will be the championship game.

Effingham will take on Taylorville for the regional crown at 6 p.m.
