STRASBURG --  Stewardson-Strasburg was a winner in seventh-grade boys basketball action Tuesday but fell in the eighth-grade contest.

Stew-Stras edged Pana Sacred Heart, 39-36 in the seventh-grade encounter.

Stew-Stras took an 11-6 opening quarter lead and led 21-17 at halftime and 31-27 going into the final period. The two teams then scored eight points each.

Noah Pruemer led the way for the winners with 17 points.

In the eighth-grade matchup, Pana Sacred Heart downed Stew-Stras, 47-39.

Sacred Heart took a 20-13 first half lead and had a 27-26 second half.

Aiden Sayers led Stew-Stras with 18 points.

Stew-Stras is back in action Thursday at North Clay (Louisville) beginning at 6 p.m.

At Newton

Jasper County claimed two victories over Altamont in boys basketbal Tuesday.

Jasper County picked up the seventh-grade game, 37-24.

Altamont held a 6-2 opening quarter lead but Jasper County broke the game open with an 18-4 second period. Jacob Oldham tallied 10 for the winners.

Altamont was led by Reardon with 16.

Jasper County is now 2-0 on the season.

In the eighth-grade contest, Jasper County was a 46-30 winner. With a 23-12 opening half, Jasper County went on for a 23-18 second half run.

Drake Wolf scored 12 and Dexter Fulton 11 for the winners. Jasper County is 2-0.

Altamont was led by Veteto with 15.
