The No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 teams advanced in the National Trail Conference Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Wednesday.

Top-seeded St. Michael tallied a 31-22 victory over Neoga in the opener.

In the second contest, No. 2 Brownstown/St. Elmo won over South Central, 41-12.

In the final game of the evening, No. 3 Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg downed Dieterich, 24-12. WSS held Dieterich scoreless in the opener while taking an 8-0 lead and held them scoreless in the final quarter.

Hayes scored 12 for the winners who improve to 6-4.

Michl led Dieterich with 10.

St. Michael advances to a meeting with Altamont at 6 p.m. today followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 7:15. The winners of tonight's games advance to an 11:30 a.m. championship game Saturday while the losers drop into the third place contest at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.

In Friday's games, Neoga meets Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 6 p.m. while South Central takes on Dieterich at 6:45 in consolation bracket action. The winners then advance to a 9 a.m. game Saturday for the consolation championship.
