Effingham nabbed two victories over Altamont in junior high girls basketball Tuesday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade game, 41-28. Beals led the way with 13 points while Althoff added 11.

Osteen led Altamont with 13.

In eighth-grade action, Effingham was a 48-20 winner. The Mustangs took a 27-10 halftime lead.

Martin scored 17 and Wolfe 13 for the winners.

Altamont was led by Lurkens with 18.

At Cowden

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg came visiting and downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City twice Tuesday.

WSS was a 21-15 winner in the seventh-grade game. CHBC took an 8-6 halftime lead but WSS came back to lead 13-10 after three quarters and had an 8-5 final period.

Friese led the winners with 17 points. CHBC was led by Isabella Davis with three.

In eighth-grade competition, Windsor/Stew-Stras won 44-4. The winners led 27-2 at halftime.

Sam Hayes scored 18 and Wittenberg 11 for the winners. CHBC was led by Macee Rodman with four.
