North Clay Wins, T-town, Dieterich Fall In Girls Basketball

North Clay (Louisville) played host to St. Elmo/Brownstown and picked up a 41-26 girls high school basketball victory Tuesday.

The Cardinals edged out to an 8-6 opening quarter lead before outscoring SEB 15-3 in the second period to lead 23-9 at halftime and never looked back.

North Clay was led by Madi Lovett with 13, Allison Czyzewski with 12 and Alexis VanDyke with 10.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by L. Baldrige with seven.

At Louisville

At Mattoon

 

Teutopolis High School dropped a 47-41 loss to host Mattoon in girls high school basketball Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes held an 11-9 opening quarter lead as Kaylee Niebrugge scored six points and Lexie NIebrugge hit a three-pointer.

But Mattoon got untracked and had a 12-6 second period to lead 21-17 at halftime. Mattoon was led by Mallory Ramage with eight points.

Ramage then went on a tear in the third quarter, knocking in two three-pointers and two regular baskets for 10 points as Mattoon pushed ahead by six points, 33-27. 

T-town came back to play Mattoon even in the final period, 14-14 but couldn't make up those six points. L. Niebrugge finished as the only double digit performer with 14. She hit four three-pointers and was two of two at the line. K. Niebrugge chipped in with nine.

K. Niebrugge pulled down six rebounds while Kaitlyn Schumacher had four. L. Niebrugge, Grace Tegeler and Isabella Hardiek had a steal each. Tegeler, Cremens, Hardiek and Schumacher had an assist each. Emily Konkel had a blocked shot.

Mattoon's Ramage tallied 30 points with 10 field goals that included two three-pointers and was eight of 11 at the line.

At Dieterich

Dieterich and Martinsville played to an even 11-11 opening quarter but the Bluestreaks had a 17-7 second period and held on for a 56-49 victory Tuesday.

Martinsville led by five going into the final period and had an 18-16 run. Three players hit double digits for the Bluestreaks led by Higgins with 17 while P. Propst had 16 and Parcel 10.

Dieterich had two players in double figures. Madelyn Brummer and Kaitlyn Boerngen tallied 11 each while Brooke Locey finished with nine.
