Lady Shoes Advance to 2A Sectional Championship

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes have advanced to the Class 2A Paris Sectional championship game at Paris after defeating Tolono Unity 43-22. The game was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.

Teutopolis posted a convincing win, leading 7-4 after one quarter, 21-11 at halftime, and 33-16 after three quarters. The Lady Shoes outscored the Rockets 10-6 in the final quarter to post a 21-point win.

Teutopolis played great defense, holding Unity to 19% shooting, 7 of 36, including 0 of 13 on their three-point tries. The Rockets made 8 of 14 foul shots, turned the ball over 14 times, and grabbed 22 rebounds.

The Lady Shoes shot just 34% from the field, 15 of 44, including 6 of 20 threes. The Shoes made 7 of 9 free throws, committed 14 turnovers and pulled down 38 rebounds.

Lexie Niebrugge led the way for the Lady Shoes with 13 points with six rebounds and two assists. Hope Bueker scored nine points, and Olivia Niemerg scored six points, but grabbed 14 rebounds and had four assists. Also for Teutopolis: Ciara Roepke 7, and Grace Tegeler, Emily Konkel, Karsyn Mette and Isabella Hardiek 2 each.

Elyce Knudsen, who will leave Tolono Unity as the Rockets' all-time leading scorer, male or female, closed out her career with 17 points.

Tolono Unity ends its season with a 22-10 record.

Teutopolis now has a 24-8 mark and will take on host team and unbeaten Paris, who defeated St. Joseph-Ogden in the other semifinal game, 62-35. Game time is 7pm Thursday and we will have the game on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.
