Several Area Boys, Girls Teams in Top 10

The latest girls and boys prep basketball polls were released. Teutopolis is listed among the top 10 in both the boys and girls polls.

In the girls poll, the Wooden Shoes are ranked eighth with a 13-4 record and 39 points. The Shoes dropped from the top spot to eighth. Paris took over the No. 1 position with a 19-0 record and 89 points. The Tigers came out of nowhere, not even a member of the field in the last poll.

The Tigers beat T-town in the Charleston Holiday Tournament championship game 44-35 in overtime. The Shoes then fell to the Tigers on January 2 during regular season play 55-44.

The Wooden Shoes are eighth in the boys Class 2A poll with a 10-3 mark and 27 points. T-town dropped from seventh in the previous poll. Earning the top spot was Pincknevyille with a 14-1 record and six votes.

In Class 1A, Effingham St. Anthony sits in the No. 7 spot with a 12-2 record and 34 points. The Bulldogs dropped from second in the poll. Earning the top spot this week was Winchester-West Central with a 13-0 record and 94 points. Central had three votes.

The Altamont boys squad is in the others receiving votes category in Class 1A.

The Altamont girls are eighth in the Class 1A poll with a 15-3 record and 32 points. The Indians remained in the same spot they held in last week's poll.

Holding down the top 1A spot is Lewistown with seven votes, a 17-0 record and 122 points.
