NEWTON -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed two junior high boys basketball victories over host Jasper County Monday evening.
The Bullpups won the seventh-grade encounter, 50-22.
St. Anthony moved ahead 19-2 in the opening quarter and that was the game. Two Bullpups finished in double figures. Lane Frost led with 16 while Samuel Link added 14.
Jasper County was led by Wade Wickham with eight.
In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony pulled out a 51-48 win in overtime.
Jasper County held a 12-10 opening quarter lead and led 21-16 at halftime. Jasper County held a 35-29 lead going into the final quarter. St. Anthony came back to tie the score and send the game into overtime. The Bullpups then pulled out the win.
C. Ropeke scored 16 to lead the Bullpups while M. Koenig and C. Westendorf tallied 12 each.
Jasper County was led by Flowers with 22 and Meinhart with 13.

At Dieterich
Effingham picked up a 42-39 win over Dieterich in eighth-grade action Monday evening.
The Mustangs took a 17-6 opening quarter lead but Dieterich pulled back within 26-20 at halftime then had a 12-9 final period run only to fall short.
Raddatz tallied 16 for Effingham while Lewis added 10.
Dieterich was led by Gephart with 16, John Holste with 12 and Jackson Holste with 10.

At Teutopolis
Sigel St. Michael and Teutopolis split victories Monday evening.
St. Michael claimed the seventh-grade game, 25-19. The score was tied at 11-11 at halftime. The Sharpshooters then had a 14-8 second half.
Fearday scored 10 for the winners. T-town was led by Henry Thompson with 10.
In eighth-grade play, T-town captured a 54-25 victory. The Wooden Shoes had a 21-5 opening quarter and that's all it took.
Ethan R. Thoele scored 12 and Tyler Pruemer 11 for the winners. St. Michael was led by Feaday with eight.

Stewardson-Strasburg and St. Elmo/Brownstown each picked up a victory Monday.
In the seventh-grade game, Stew-Stras claimed a 40-23 win with a 14-5 opening quarter lead. Stew-Stras was led by Gurgel with 21 points and Morris with 13. Stew-Stras improved to 4-1 in the National Trail Conference, 8-2 overall.
SEB was led by Wilhour with 12 and Whitehead with nine.
In eighth-grade play, SEB picked up a 53-27 win. SEB ran off to a 14-0 opening quarter lead and had a 22-12 final period.
SEB was led by L. Schroeder with 17 points and Atwood with 11.
Stew-Stras was led by Gracey with 10. Stew-Stras dropped to 1-4 in the conference, 2-8 overall.
