The National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament finished out play Saturday.

 

The third place contest went to Altamont over Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor, 20-18. Altamont stepped out to a 10-4 opening quarter lead then had to fight off Stew-Stras for the win.

Klein led Altamont with eight points. Stew-Stras was led by Hayes with 13. Stew-Stras dropped to 7-7 on the season.

In the consolation championship, Neoga edged North Clay (Louisville), 23-22.

Sigel St. Michael claimed the championship game, 39-22 over Dieterich.

At Effingham

In Friday play, Effingham downed Salem Franklin Park in eighth-grade action, 40-34 and won the seventh-grade contest, 36-17.

The Mustangs took a 16-11 halftime lead in eighth-grade play and had a 15-12 third period run. Olivia Moser led the way with 20 points.

In the seventh-grade contest, the Mustangs captured a 36-17 victory. The Mustangs stepped out to a 14-2 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Althoff led the way with 12 points for the winners while Beals added eight.
