WINDSOR -- Altamont High School held the lead at the end of each quarter despite a close contest against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in National Trail Conference boys basketball action Friday.

The Indians led 26-23 at halftime and 40-35 going into the final quarter and finished out with a 49-45 victory.

Three players hit double figures for the Indians. Aiden Jahraus led the way with 14 points while Alek Biggs and Tony Klitzing finished with 11 each. Altamont finishes at 7-1 in the conference and is 19-13 overall.

The Hatchets were led by Adam Burton with 14 points and Beau Bennett with 12. WSS finished 4-4 in the conference and is 16-14 overall.

The Indians also claimed the junior varsity contest, 49-31.

Teutopolis seniors who were honored Friday evening.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis edged out to a 14-10 opening quarter lead on Woodlawn and went on for a 61-51 victory Friday evening.

Clint Weber, a 6-foot-7 senior, tallied 29 points for the Wooden Shoes during Senior Night. Dawson Smith, also a senior, finished with 15. Other seniors included Asa Hanson, Brayden Will, Lucas Drees, Noah Probst, Andrew Simmons and Charlie Hoene.

At Newton

Neoga edged out to an 11-10 opening quarter lead and led 25-20 at halftime. The Indians had an eight point lead going into the final period and finished out with a 56-49 non-conference win over host Newton Friday.

Two players hit double figures for the Indians. Reece Johnson, a 6-foot-0 sophomore, tallied 22 points while Trevor Roy, a 6-foot-2 junior, ended with 10.

Newton was led by Kyle Schafer, a 6-foot-1 junior, with 24. The Eagles knocked in 12 three-pointers led by Schafer with six and Justin Zumbahlen with two.

St. Elmo/Brownstown claimed a 67-59 National Trail Conference win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Friday evening.

SEB ran off to a 22-6 opening quarter lead and had a 16-9 third quarter. The victory gives the Eagles a 3-5 National Trail Conference mark, a 4-0 Egyptian-Illini Conference record and a 19-12 overall mark.

Nate Philpot led the way with 24 points while Bryton Pruett stepped in with 16 and Andy Goldsborough added 10. Goldsborough led in rebounds with seven while Pruett added six. Philpot had six assists. Philpot, Goldsborough and Jace McWhorter had two steals each. Goldsborough and McWhorter had a block each.

CHBC was led by Dylan Webster with 13 and Keegan Martin with 11. Martin had seven rebounds while Ditton Curl had six. Martin led in assists with five and had two steals along with Webster. Trace Smithi and Nick Miller had a blocked shot each.

At St. Elmo

At Louisville

South Central had to fight off a third quarter challenge by North Clay (Louisville) in taking a 71-62 National Trail Conference victory Friday evening.

The Cougars ran out to a 16-8 opening quarter lead and led 38-22 at halftime. The Cardinals came roaring back with a 24-10 third period to trail only 48-46 going into the final quarter. South Central regained the momentum for a 23-16 run for the nine point victory.

South Central was led by Logan Lotz with 28 points, Hunter Brandt with 20 and Keenin Willshire with 10. The Cougars finish 4-4 in the NTC and are 17-12 overall.

North Clay was led by Kaden Turner with 14 and Tyson Jones with 11.

South Central also nabbed a freshman/sophomore contest and the junior varsity game.

Dieterich had a big second half in downing Patoka 58-46 in a non-conference matchup Friday.

Patoka took a 14-10 opening quarter lead and led 32-10 at halftime. The Movin' Maroons started their comeback with 19-7 third period to knot the score at 39-39 going into the final period. In that quarter, Dieterich had a 19-7 run for the victory.

Collin Hartke, a 6-foot-2 junior, tallied 31 for the winners while Derek Kuhl chipped in with 15.

The Pirates took a 13-12 opening quarter lead and led 22-18 at halftime. Palestine/Hutsonville came back with a 17-16 third period but Cumberland went out at 19-18.

Zach Wolke tallied 16 points to lead the Pirates while Wyatt Napier added 13 and Brennyn Cutts 10.
