SALEM -- Effingham fell to Salem in both freshman and sophomore boys basketball competition Wednesday.

In the freshman contest, Salem was a 41-28 winner. The Wildcats took a 20-18 halftime lead then had a 21-10 second half.

Pals led Effingham with 11 points.

In the sophomore game, Salem claimed a 74-64 victory. Effingham held a 23-14 opening quarter lead and led 37-32 at halftime.

The score was tied at 51-51 going into the final period. The Wildcats then had a 23-13 final quarter run.

Effingham was led by Lee with 20, Woelfer with16 and Volpi with 10.
