T-town, WSS Move Into Regional Title Games

ROBINSON -- Teutopolis High School moved into the championship game of the Class 2A Robinson Girls Basketball Regional with a win Wednesday.

T-town handed Robinson a 68-30 loss. The Wooden Shoes took off early with a 17-4 opening quarter run and that was the game.

Twelve players scored for the Shoes led by Lexie Niebrugge with 17 and Claire Bushur with 16.

Niebrugge led in steals with seven while Morgan Mette had three. Sadie Bueker led in assists with three. Emma Deters had two blocked shots.

In the second contest of the evening, Marshall edged Newton 54-47 in overtime.

Newton held an 18-7 opening quarter lead and led 25-16 at halftime. The Eagles were still in control in the third period, 39-28. The Lions then went on a run, outscoring Newton 15-4 and knotting the game at 43-43, sending the game into overtime. In the overtime period, Marshall's run continued with an 11-4 tally.

Marshall was led by Clark with 14, Osborne with 12 and Hiatt with 10.

Newton was led by Brooke Jansen with 18 and Allison Harris with 10. The Eagles end the season with a 9-19 record.

Teutopolis and Marshall will square off for the championship of the regional tonight at 7.

Class 1A Bethany Okaw Valley Regional

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg advanced to the championship game of the Okaw Valley Regional Wednesday with a 52-36 win over Okaw Valley.

The Hatchets ran off to an 18-4 opening quarter lead and led 27-17 at hafltime.

Megan Schlechte led the way for the Hatchets in scoring with 17 while Nikki Trussell pitched in with 16.

In the opening contest of the evening, Moweaqua Central A&M defeated Nokomis, 58-28.

Windsor/Stew-Stras (22-5) will now take on Moweaqua Central A&M for the championship tonight at 7.

Class 1A Arcola Regional

Neoga saw its season come to a close with a 60-43 loss at the hands of Arcola in the Arcola Regional Wednesday.

The Indians moved out to a 14-10 opening quarter lead but Arcola came roaring back with a 20-7 second period and that was the game.

Mary Hill led Neoga with 11 points while Olivia Titus chipped in with nine.

Hume Shiloh opened the eveing with a 79-10 trouncing of Martinsville.

Hume Shiloh will take on Arcola at 7 p.m. today for the regional championship.

OTHER REGIONALS:

In other regionals, Sullivan defeated Warrensburg-Latham 41-31 and Villa Grove Co-op won over Maroa-Forsyth 55-44 at the Class 2A Warrensburg-Latham Regional. Sullivan and Villa Grove will now meet for the championship tonight at 7.

In the Class 2A Edwards County (Albion) Reigonal, Edwards County defeated Lawrenceville 51-40 and Flora won over Mount Carmel 40-29.

Edwards County meets Flora at 7 p.m. today for the regional championship.

In the Class 2A Pana Regional, Pana downed Shelbyville 73-26 and Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond edged Tuscola 44-40.

Pana and ALAH meet tonight for the regional championship at 7.
