Shoes Post Big Win Over Bulldogs

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes put on a glittering performance Friday night, defeating the St. Anthony Bulldogs 64-37 in action at J.H. Griffin Gym. The game at T-Town was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com

 

The game was back-and-forth for the first few minutes, but from the point Teutopolis took a 7-6 first quarter lead, they were never headed. 

The Shoes led 13-6 after one quarter, 28-12 at halftime and 48-24 after three quarters before outscoring the Bulldogs 16-13 in the final period.

Teutopolis had a great shooting night, hitting 25 of 42 shots, or just under 60% including 4 of 10 threes. The Shoes made 9 of 14 foul shots, and turned the ball over 13 times.

St. Anthony was held to 14 of 42 shooting, 33%, including 3 of 10 threes. The Bulldogs made 6 of 8 free throws and committed 10 turnovers.

Teutopolis had a whopping 33 to 14 rebound edge.

Dawson Smith had another quality game for Teutopolis, leading all scorers with 23 points. on 7 of 11 shooting, made 6 of 9 foul shots, and grabbed six rebounds. Clint Weber just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Evan Wermert was also in double figures with 12 points on four of five shooting. Mitch Hardiek had four points but six rebounds. Luke Ungrund scored six points on three of five shooting. Charlie Hoene, Asa Hanson, Noah Probst and Andrew Simmons each scored two points.

Luke Ludwig and Logan Antrim each scored eight points for St. Anthony. Quentin Milleville hit two threes for his six points, Jaccob Dust scored four points on one-for-12 shooting as slowing last week's NTC Tournament MVP was Job One for the Shoes, Aaron Webb and Kaden Fearday each had three points, Alex Brandenburger and Jack Elder each scored two points, and Kennan Walsh scored one point.

Teutopolis improved their record to 22-3 heading to the Benton Shootout on Saturday evening. St. Anthony is now 16-8 on the season and will take on the Charleston Trojans on Saturday.

Teutopolis won the JV game 44-37. Brock Deters led Teutopolis with 12 points, while St. Anthony's Aaron Webb led all scorers with 14 points.
