DIETERICH -- Teutopolis opened the Dieterich Freshman Boys Basketball Tournament with a victory over Effingham St. Anthony Monday evening.

 

T-town claimed a 72-56 victory. The Wooden Shoes leaped out to a 20-9 opening quarter lead. Bushur tallied 20 points while Bannick scored 13 and Niebrugge 10.

St. Anthony was led by Kyle Stewart and James Schuette with 16 each and Craig Croy with 15.

In the second game, Dieterich downed Altamont, 52-43.

Altamont took a 14-12 opening quarter lead but Dieterich led 26-22 at halftime and 36-32 going into the final quarter.

Bryce Budde scored 33 points for the winners on 12 field goals, one a three-pointer, and eight of 10 at the line.

Altamont was led by Noah Klimpel with 17 and Will Schultz with 12.

St. Anthony and Altamont meet for third place at 6 p.m. Thursday while T-town and Dieterich will play for the championship at 7:15.
