COWDEN -- Twelve games were played Saturday at the Cowden-Herrick Freshman/Sophomore Girls Basketball Tournament.

Pana ended up claiming the championship with a 59-39 victory over Teutopolis. Pana held a 25-18 halftime lead then had a 17-5 second half.

T-town was led by Runde with eight points.

Third place went to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City over Ramsey, 44-32. CHBC ran off to a 20-9 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Morrison scored 12 while Bunch had nine for the winners.

The consolation champoniship went to Effingham over Central A&M, 47-18. The Hearts led 29-4 at halftime.

Sowell tallied 10 for the Hearts.

In first round games, CHBC defeated Mulberry Grove, 56-19; Pana won over Effingham, 58-36; Ramsey edged Robinson, 33-27; T-town downed Central A&M, 48-20; Effingham pounded Mulberry Grove, 43-7; Pana won over CHBC, 52-35; Central A&M edged Robinson, 36-33 and T-town beat Ramsey, 52-22. In the seventh-place contest, Robinson won over Mulberry Grove, 32-28.
