Dieterich, Altamont, C'land, Neoga Nab Boys Wins

DIETERICH -- Dieterich High School picked up a 52-37 win over Palestine/Hutsonville in high school boys basketball action Friday evening.

 

The Movin' Maroons and P/H were tied at 7-7 after the opening quarter. Dieterich then took off with a 24-8 second period run and that was the contest.

Three players hit double figures for the Maroons. Collin Hartke, a 6-foot-2 junior, knocked in 19 points while Evan Bohnhoff, a 5-foot-10 senior, scored 17. Derek Kuhl chipped in with 10.

Bohnhoff went on an 11 point tear while Hartke scored 10 in that second quarter surge. Bohnhoff nailed all three of his three-point shots in that period.

At Altamont

Altamont edged Shelbville, 69-66 in action Friday.

Shelbyville took a 20-17 opening quarter lead and led 39-31 at halftime. The Indians started a comeback in the third quarter and pulled within 53-47 heading into the final period. In that final quarter, Altamont went on a three-point run, knocking in four and finished with a 22-13 final period and the three-point victory.

Hitting three-pointers in that final quarter were Aidan Jahraus, Kaden Eirhart, Alek Biggs and Denver Duckwitz.

Biggs fnished with 28 points while Jahraus added 13 and Duckwitz 10. Biggs nailed five three-pointers as the Indians had a total of 11 in the contest. Jahraus added three.

Altamont claimed the junior varsity game, 58-38.

Cumberland picked up a victory over Arcola, 65-36 in action Friday evening.

The Pirates had three players hit double figures in the victory. Zach Wolke, a senior, tallied 15 points while Gabe Hatfill and Brennyn Cutts scored 10 each.

Cumberland finished with six three-pointers in the contest led by Cutts with two.

The Indians ran off to a 19-3 opening quarter lead and led 40-16 at halftime.

Two players hit double figures for the Indians. Trevor Roy, a 6-foot-2 junior, led the way with 18 points while Mitchell Cornell chipped in with 14. Cornell hit three trifectas in the contest.
