Sigel St. Michael handed Dieterich a 34-18 loss in the Class 8-1A Effingham Sacred Heart Girls Basketball Regional Friday.

The Sharpshooters took an 8-1 opening quarter lead and led 16-5 at halftime. Kaylee Niebrugge was the leading scorer for the winners with 13 points while Taylor Bueker added eight.

Dieterich was led by Hearen Kinnison with 12.

St. Michael advances to the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional and will face Pana Sacred Heart, a 34-18 winner over Sorento at the Pana Sacred Heart Regional.

Class 8-2A Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Regional

Altamont captured a 40-32 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in the CHBC Regional Friday.

Altamont had two players hit double figures. Grace Nelson led the way with 19 points while Peyton Osteen added 12.

CHBC was led by Gracie Heckert with 17 points and Mady Wojcik with nine.

Altamont advances to the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional Wednesday against North Clay (Louisville) at 6:30 p.m.

Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Teutopolis advanced from the Paris Mayo Regional Friday.

The Wooden Shoes defeated host Paris Mayo, 26-23. T-town took an 8-5 opening quarter lead then had a 10-1 third quarter.

Katie Kremer led T-town with 13 points. The Wooden Shoes improve to 23-3 on the season.

T-town will now face Tuscola East Prairie at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Tuscola East Prairie Sectional.

Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Class 8-4A Mahomet-Seymour Regional

Mahomet-Seymour claimed its own regional championship Saturday with a 36-18 win over Champaign Jefferson.

Mahomet-Seymour will now face Effingham at the M-S Sectional Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
