STRASBURG -- Altamont High School traveled to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg for National Trail Conference girls basketball action Thursday.

 

The Indians tallied a 69-48 win. WSS held a 14-12 opening quarter lead. Altamont then went on a scoring binge with a 24-12 second period for a 36-26 halftime lead. The Indians kept the pressure on with a 13-9 third period.

Runge led the way for Altamont with 16 points while Schultz chipped in with 14. The Indians knocked in six three-pointers as Runge nailed four and Guse two.

The Hatchets were led by three players in double figures. Trussell tallied 14 while M. Schlechte added 13 and H. Hayes 12.

At Newton

Newton bounced Robinson in Little Illini Conference play Thursday, 60-28.

The Eagles stepped out to a 30-8 halftime lead and that was the contest. Two players hit double figures for the Eagles. Harris tallied 13 while Jansen scored 10. Seven other players scored in the game.

Carr pulled down seven rebounds while Bierman and Harris had four assists each. Al. Russell and Harris led in steals with three.

Newton improves to 1-1 and will host the Bob Kerans Thanksgiving Tournament next week.

Newton edged Robinson 40-39 in junior varsity game.

At Arcola

Neoga outscored Arcola in the first and third quarters to pull out a 38-31 non-conference victory Thursday.

The Indians had a 6-4 opening period and held a one-point halftime lead. Neoga then salted the game away with a 15-9 third period.

Kelsey Partlow tallied nine for the winners while Kylee Phillips and Mary Hill had seven each.

Arcola won the junior varsity game, 37-28.

Neoga improves to 1-1 on the season.

Brownstown/St. Elmo took the early lead and went on to down Shelbyville, 47-35 in a non-conference matchup Thursday.

The Eagles held a 30-25 halftime lead then had a 12-4 third period run.

C. Wilhour led three players in double digits with 18. Campbell chipped in with 13 and Oberlink added 10.
