Effingham split junior high boys basketball victories with Robinson Nuttall Monday evening.

The Mustangs lost the seventh-grade contest, 26-21. The score was tied at 7-7 after the opening quarter before EJHS took a 17-8 halftime lead. Nuttall came back with an 8-0 third quarter to move ahead by one then had a 10-4 final period.

Raddatz tallied 12 to lead the Mustangs who drop to 2-5 on the season.

In the eighth-grade game, Effingham picked up a 47-17 win. Effingham held a 26-14 halftime lead and had a 17-0 final period.

Wolfe tallied 20 to lead in scoring while Westendorf chipped in with 16. Westendorf and Estrada had four steals each. Pontious led the  Mustangs in rebounds with nine while Westendorf added five.

The Mustangs improve to 5-2 on the season.

At Findlay

Stewardson-Strasburg edged Okaw Valley in the seventh-grade contest Monday evening, 28-26.

The score was tied at 8-8 in the first quarter before Stew-Stras edged ahead 17-14. Okaw Valley came back with a 7-5 third quarter but Stew-Stras had a 6-5 final period.

Gracey tallied nine points while Bridges added eight for the winners who are now 2-3 on the season.

In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras pounded Okaw Valley, 55-16.

Ten players scored for the winners. A. Wittenburg led the way with 15 points while Chaney chipped in with eight. Stew-Stras is unbeaten at 6-0.

At Mount Zion

Teutopolis downed Mount Zion in two games Monday evening.

T-town took a 12-7 opening quarter lead and led 20-15 at halftime. The Wooden Shoes were led by Tyler Pruemer with 13 and Joey Niebrugge with nine.

In the eighth-grade game, T-town picked up a 49-22 victory. Leading 25-10 at halftime, the Shoes had a 22-6 third period.

Brendan Niebrugge led the Shoes with 13 points.

At Newton

Jasper County suffered two losses to Flora in action Monday.

Flora claimed a 39-32 win in seventh-grade play. Flora held a 20-15 hafltime lead and had a 10-5 third period. Jasper County came back with a 12-9 final period only to fall short.

Parker Wolf led Jasper County with 15. Jasper County dropped to 4-1.

In eighth-grade action, Flora won easily, 43-13. Jasper County was led by Nick Shamhart with four points. The squad falls to 1-4 on the season.

At Iuka

Altamont Lutheran Interparish tallied a seventh-grade victory over host Iuka Monday, 53-6.

Altamont Lutheran trailed Iuka 3-1 after the opening quarter but came back with an 18-0 second period run and that was the game.

Aiden McManaway tallied 16 for the winners.

In eighth-grade action, Altamont Lutheran captured a 50-22 victory. The winners had a 33-13 second and third period run.

Logan Cornett and Mason Robinson provided the one-two scoring punch with 12 points each for the winners.
