CHBC Opens Season With Win, Area Girls Roundup

COWDEN -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City successfully opened the girls high school basketball season by downing South Central, 62-26 Monday evening.

The Bobcats zipped out to a 14-3 opening quarter lead and led 33-12 at halftime.

Two players hit double figures for the winners, Jaelyn Robertson tallied 25, hitting seven field goals, including a three-pointer, and was eight of 10 at the line. Also in double figures was Tabitha Endsley with 14. Endsley led in rebounds with eight. Robertson and Hailey Persinger had three assists each.

The Cougars were led by Hilmes and Webster with seven points each.

CHBC also claimed the junior varsity game, 42-9.

Neoga opened the season with a loss to Moweaqua Central A&M, 53-18 Monday evening.

Central A&M held a 29-11 halftime lead and never looked back.

Phillips tallied seven to lead the Indians.

Paris leaped to a 40-14 halftime lead and that was the game as the Tigers took an 81-19 victory over Cumberland in opening season action Monday.

The Tigers had three players in double figures led by Isaf with 27.  Rigdon had 18 and Krabel 11.

Cumberland was led by Dunaway with six points.
