Effingham Girls Down Cahokia, 52-39

CAHOKIA -- Effingham High School pushed its record to 21-2 on the season by downing Cahokia, 52-39, in girls basketball action Wednesday.

The Hearts trailed Cahokia 12-11 after the opening quarter then had a 14-8 second period to lead 25-20 at halftime. EHS had a 27-19 second half run.

Carsyn Fearday tallied 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Miranda Fox added 12 points and four assists. Skyler Schafer had six boards and Natalie Carie four. Aly Armstrong added nine points.

The Hearts nailed eight three-point shots with Armstrong and Fox putting in three each.

The Hearts, ranked seventh in the latest Class 3A State Basketball Poll, return to action Friday playing host to Teutopolis. The game will be heard on KJ Country, 102.3.
