Bulldogs Win Big Over Hatchets

The St. Anthony Bulldogs pushed their season record to 18-2 with a convincing 63-32 win over the Windsor/Stew-Stras Hatchets. The game at Stew-Stras High School was heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com

The Bulldogs got out of the gate in good shape and led 14-6 after one quarter. The Hatchets fell behind by as many as 13 points, but battled back to within five in the second quarter before St. Anthony rebuilt their lead. The Bulldogs led 29-18 at halftime.

The third quarter told the tale, though, as St. Anthony exploded and outscored the Hatchets 21-4 in the period to lead 50-22. The Bulldogs posted a 13-10 edge in the final quarter for the 31-point win.

St. Anthony shot 43% from the field, making 23 of 54 shots including 4 of 8 threes. Windsor/Stew-Stras was just 15 of 41 from the field for 37% including just one of 11 on threes. The Bulldogs made 13 of 17 free throws, while the Hatchets were just 1 of 5 from the line. St. Anthony outrebounded the Hatchets 34 to 16, and committed just eight turnovers to 14 for the Hatchets.

Jack Nuxoll set the stage early for St. Anthony, scoring nine points in the first quarter. Nuxoll finished with a team-high 12 points, while Alex Beesley was also in double figures with 11 points. Also for the Bulldogs: Adam Levitt 9, Jaccob Dust 7, Alex Deters 6, Luke Ludwig 6, Ben Strullmyer 5, Brandon Runge 4, and Cade Walsh 3.

Gavin Bennett scored 8 points to lead the Hatchets, while Beau Bennett scored 7, Chase Thies 6, Isaac Kramer 5, Christian Kessler 4, and Adam Burton 2. 

Windsor/Stew-Stras is now even on the season at 8-8.

St. Anthony won the JV game 66-22. For the JV Bulldogs, Jaccob Dust and Bryson Wall each scored 13 points and Kaden Fearday scored 12 points. Jackson Miller scored 9 points to lead the JV Hatchets.

St. Anthony won the freshman 55-24. For the freshman Bulldogs, Eli Moore led the way with 10 points. Howard scored 17 points for the freshman Hatchets.
