BOYS BASKETBALL

St. Anthony 51, St. Elmo/Brownstown 31 (for details, see separate story)

Lincoln 63, Effingham 43 (Lincoln was not a cordial host during the Hearts' first-ever visit for Apollo Conference play; Effingham trailed 19-9 after one quarter, 30-15 at halftime, and 45-33 after three quarters before being outscored 16-11 in the final period; Landon Wolfe continued his big scoring, pouring in 26 points including two threes and seven-of-eight from the line; Mason Hull scored nine points, and Ryan Sandifer and Logan Smith each scored four points; Effingham is now 4-3 on the season, 1-1 in Apollo Conference play; Lincoln won the JV game 53-28; scoring for the Hearts' JV: Niebrugge 8, Utz 7, Thompson 5, Cramsey 4, Waldhoff 3, Donsbach 1)

Altamont 74, South Central 55 (the one-two combination of Mitchell Stevenson and Alek Biggs poured in 52 points, 29 from Stevenson and 23 from Biggs, to pace the Indians attack; Aiden Jahraus was also in double figures with 14 points; also for Altamont, Denver Duckwitz 5, and Tony Klitzing and Kolby Pemberton, 2 apiece; Trent Geiler led the Cougars with 18 points; also for South Central: Lotz and McCown 9 each, Matheny 7, Brandt 6, Roberts 3, Fox 2; Altamont now 4-3 on the season; Altamont won the JV game 65-36; for Altamont JV: Eirhart 18, Teasley 16, Klitzing 10, Budde and Kollman 6 each, Ruffner 5, Abendroth 4; for South Central JV: Roberts 10, Shumate 8, Durham 6, Robb 5, Patten 4, Hester 3)

Dieterich 70, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 28 (Ryan Radloff continued his potent scoring, tallying 21 to lead the Movin Maroons; also in double figures for Dieterich: Tyler Higgs and Callaway Campton with 14 apiece, and Evan Bohnhoff with 12 points; also for Dieterich: Devin Flach and Collin Hartke 4 each, and Clayton Mellendorf 1; for CHBC: Nick Miller 9, Dylan Webster 8, Keegan Martin 5, and Zach Burks, Marshall Nohren and Eddie Clearwater 2 each)

Cumberland 57, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 48 (Tyson Magee led the scoring for the Pirates with 19 points; Myles Gerhardt and Zach Wolke added 13 each, Brennyn Cutts 9, Connor Butler 3)

Neoga 44, Sullivan 43 (Caleb Hill made two foul shots to give Neoga the one-point win; Hill with 20 points to lead the Indians; also for Neoga: Johnson 8, Butler 6, Ramert and Andrews 3 each, Fritcher and Cornell 2 each; Neoga off to a 3-1 start to the season)

Newton 63, North Clay 28 (Newton improved to 5-2 with the win; balanced scoring for the Eagles: Collin Harris 14, Jack Chapman and Nick Cohorst 13 each, Zach Jansen 6, Zak Finn 5, Ben Carr and Seth Weber 4 each, Justin Zumbahlen and Jake Stanley 2 each; Quincy Aldrich led North Clay with 12 points; also for the Cardinals: Tyson Jones 7, Kaden Turner and Troy Smith 3 each, Aleon Rinehart 2, Reese Blank 1)

Shelbyville 65, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 56 (scoring is not available due to problems with the home scorebook; W/SS now 5-2 on the season)

Bloomington Central Catholic 64, Teutopolis 51 (Bloomington Central Catholic hit 10 3's in the game; the Wooden Shoes were down 18-8 after the first quarter, but pulled back to within 22-21 at halftime; BCC was back up 43-36 after three quarters and outscored the Shoes 21-15 in the final quarter to post the 13-point win; Dawson Smith led Teutopolis with 18 points and Eric Kremer was in double figures with 13; also for Teutopolis: Clint Weber and Ian Addis 7 each, Lee Hardiek 4, Collin Kreke 2; Teutopolis suffer first loss after five wins; Teutopolis JV won 71-59 to improve to 1-1)
