MARSHALL -- Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School split victories with host Marshall in basketball action Saturday.

In the seventh-grade contest, the Bullpups picked up a 39-18 win to improve to 10-3 on the season.

St. Anthony jumped out to a 22-4 first half lead. Kyle Stewart tallied 13 for the winners while Angelo Mendella and Josh  Blacnhette scored seven each.

In the eighth-grade contest, Marshall claimed a 47-41 victory. The Lions took a 27-14 first half lead.

St. Anthony was led by Walsh with 24 points. The Bulldogs dropped to 8-3.

At Lincoln

Effingham Junior HIgh School's seventh-grade squad fell to Fulton O'Fallon Saturday, 47-29 at the Lincoln Shootout.

The two teams were tied at 8-8 after the opening quarter but Fulton had a 15-4 second period run.

Effingham was led by Matteson with 16 points.

In eighth-grade action, O'Fallon was a 50-48 winner. The Mustangs held a 16-8 opening quarter lead and led 24-18 at halftime. The Mustangs led all but two possesions the entire game and at the buzzer.

O'Fallon's Tebbie and Watson scored 28 of their total 29 points in the second half. Watson hit the game winner on a rebound putback at the buzzer.

Leading Effingham was Wolfe with 15 points. Duncan chipped in with nine. The Mustangs fall to 9-4 while O'Fallon improved to 12-3.
