Playing the second half with their leading scorer injured, the Altamont Indians stayed tough to the end, but fell 65-63 to Patoka in the championship game of the St. Elmo 1A Regional Friday night.

Altamont's Ryan Armstrong rolled an ankle early in the second quarter, effectively ending his night. Armstrong played some in the remainder of the game, but was limping noticeably.

The injury came after Altamont sprinted to a 17-12 first quarter lead. The Indians extended the lead to 33-26 at halftime, but Patoka outscored Altamont 22-16 in the third quarter to pull within 49-48 after three quarters, and a 17-14 fourth quarter edge was just enough to give Patoka the two-point victory.

Adam Mayhaus led Altamont with 20 points, including eight in both the third and fourth quarters. Sam Childerson scored 11 points and Branden Hosick scored 10 points. Mitchell Stevenson came off the bench to score nine points and Armstrong finished with eight points. Klaiton Wolff had three points and Evan Cornett scored two points.

Altamont finishes its season with a 22-6 record.
