Wooden Shoes Move Up to #2 in 2A, Dieterich Remains #2 in 1A

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes moved up to #2 in the Class 2A Boys State Basketball Poll this week.

The Shoes' win over #1 rated Nashville Monday night at the Nashville Tournament not only moved the Shoes up to #2, it knocked Nashville down to #3. Hales Franciscan is the new #1 team in 2A, claiming nine first-place votes. Teutopolis garnered five first-place votes. Also in 2A, Breese Central is #7. The Cougars captured the championship of the St. Anthony Thanksgiving Tournament.

Meanwhile, the Dieterich Movin Maroons remained #2 in the Class 1A poll behind Springfield Lutheran. Dieterich claimed three first-place votes. Also in 1A, Woodlawn, who competed in the St. Anthony Shootout earlier this month is rated #7.

In Class 3A, the Centralia Orphans are rated #9. Centralia plays Effingham on Friday night at the Salem Invitational Tournament. The game will be heard on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.  

On the girls' side of the ledger, Central A&M remained #3 in the Class 1A poll. Neoga got 13 votes, leaving #14 in 1A.

Both Sullivan and Flora got votes in the Class 2A poll, and Paris got votes in the Class 3A poll.
