(New Orleans, LA) -- Anthony Davis racked up 26 points, 17 rebounds and nine blocks as the Pelicans pounded the Magic 101-84 in the season opener at the Smoothie King Center. Ryan Anderson added 22 points and nine boards off the bench, while Omer Asik chipped in with 14 points and 17 boards for the Pelicans, who went 34-48 last season. Tyreke Evans recorded 12 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the victory. Nikola Vucevic notched 15 points and 23 rebounds for Orlando, which went just 23-59 last year. Tobias Harris had 25 points and eight boards in the setback.


Spurs Hold Off Mavericks In Opener

(San Antonio, TX) -- Chandler Parsons missed a three-pointer in the closing seconds as the Spurs held on for a 101-100 win over the Mavericks from the AT&T Center. Tony Parker had a team-high 23 points for San Antonio, which raised its 2013-14 championship banner prior to the game. Manu Ginobili added 20 points and six assists off the bench while Tim Duncan netted 14 points with 13 rebounds in the season-opening victory. Monta Ellis had a game-high 26 points with six assists for Dallas while Dirk Nowitzki added 18 points and six boards. Devin Harris scored 17 points off the bench in defeat.


Rockets Blast Past Lakers

(Los Angeles, CA) -- James Harden pumped in 32 points with six assists as the Rockets blew past the Lakers 108-90 from STAPLES Center. Terrance Jones had 16 points and 13 rebounds while Dwight Howard added 13 points and 11 boards. Trevor Ariza also scored 16 points for Houston, which outrebounded Los Angeles by 11 in the victory. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 19 points in defeat. Rookie Julius Randle scored two points 14 minutes before leaving in the fourth quarter with a broken leg. Carlos Boozer had 17 points and seven rebounds for LA, which got seven points and six assists from Jeremy Lin.


Bulls Tip Season Tonight Against Knicks

(New York, NY) -- The Bulls tip off the regular season tonight at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks. Chicago is looking to make it back to the playoffs after finishing fourth last year at 48-34 but losing in the first round in five games to the Wizards. Tonight's tip is set for 7:00.
