Class 1A, 2A All-State Baseball Teams Named

The 2024 Class 1A and Class 2A All-State high school baseball team members were named.

In Class 1A, Dillan Elam, a pitcher and an infielder, was named to the squad from the Class 1A second place Altamont High School baseball team. The Indians won over Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley by a 3-2 count in the opening game at State then fell to Ottawa Marquette 6-2 to finish second. they had a 31-10 season record.

Elam, a senior, had a .305 batting average with 25 RBI during the regular season and went 9-0 as a pitcher. He also played third base.

Other members of the Class 1A All-State team were Carson Akins (Forreston), Kollin Asburry (Armstrong-Potomac), Conrad Charpentier (Routt), Gibson Dickson (Okaw Valley), Brayden Elliott (Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley), Luke Gallet (Dwight), Drew Kleinheider (Father McGivney), Martin Ledbetter (Hinckley-Big Rock), Jacob McEvers (Greenfield-Northwestern),  Brandon Menser (Waltonville Sesser-Valier), Sam Mitre (Marquette Ottawa), Drake Moss (Goreville), Cole Noreuil (Delavan), Alec Novotney (Marquette Ottawa), Chance Payne (Mount Pulaski), Angel Reyes (East Dubuque), Carson Rowe (Henry Senachwine), Nolan Turner (Routt), Josh Vaughn (Illini Bluffs) and Carson Wort (Pawnee).

Two Effingham St. Anthony players were named from the Class 2A State championship Bulldogs.

Brock Fearday, a junior, earned All-State honors as pitcher/infielder while Connor Roepke, a senior, was named as a catcher.

The Bulldogs beat Wilimngton 12-1 at the Class 2A State Tournament then came back to win the championship by downing Maroa-Forsyth 8-5. The Bulldogs finished with a 27-5-1 record.

Other members of the team include Lucas Bixby (New Berlin), Max Bryant (Spring Valley Hall), Blaine Emrick (Nashville), Braden Engel (Stillman Valley), Kyle Farrell (Wilmington), Hank Gomric (Belleville Althoff Catholic), Lucas Hicks (Westmont), Scout Hudgens (Zeigler-Royalton-Christopher), Brayden Knoll (Byron), Luke Landrus (St. Joseph-Ogden), Quinn Lechner (Marengo), Benny Lehman (Breese Central), Kaiden Maurer (Maroa-Forsyth), Nathan Southern (Warrensburg-Latham), Lucas Rink (Wilmington), Wesley Robertson (Illini West), Ashton Seymore (Latin), Trager Shultz (Pleasant Plains), Aidan Terronezx (Sherrard), Bendan Tunik (Newman Central Catholic), Braxton Waller (St. Joseph-Ogden) and PJ Winters (DuQuoin). 

The Class 3A and 4A teams have not been released yet.
