Altamont, Dieterich, North Clay Win In H.S. Baseball

TUSCOLA -- Altamont High School edged out to a 2-0 opening inning lead and put the baseball game in the victory column by a 15-0 count in six innings Tuesday.

The Indians held a 9-0 lead after five innings and finished it off by the 10-run rule in the sixth.

Altamont finished with 19 hits. Nathan Stuemke and Dillan Elam banged out a solo home run each. Ethan Robbins finished with four singles and two RBI. Clayton Arnold added a single and three RBI. Eli Miller finished with a double while Kaden Davis added two singles and two RBI. Zaine Miller had two singles. Dyson Wagner tallied a single and drove in two runs. Daniel McCammon and Kade Milleville had a single and an RBI each.

Robbins was the winning pitcher. He went six innings, allowing two hits, walking five and striking out seven.

At Toledo

Dieterich took a 3-0 lead in the second and went on to hold off Cumberland in a high-scoring, 14-11 victory Tuesday.

The Movin' Maroons tallied two in the fifth and sixth innings and finished with seven in the seventh.

Cumberland had a nine run third and single runs in the fourth and fifth.

Jaxon Funneman hit a single, home run and drove in two runs. Gavin Meinhart had a single, double and two RBI while Landen Keck added a single, double and one RBI. Carson Baxter put together three singles and drove in two runs while Lucas Westendorf finished with a single and three RBI. Justin Boerngen and Andrew Hall had two singles and an RBI each. Gavin French added a single and an RBI.

Baxter went three innings, allowing one run, two walks while striking out one for the win on the mound. He came on in relief in the fifth.

North Clay (Louisville) was a winner over Vandalia, 5-3 Tuesday.

The Cardinals are now 15-12-1 on the season and return to action Thursday against Robinson at 4:30 p.m.
