SAUGET -- Brownstown/St. Elmo High School blanked Mulberry Grove, 6-0 in a baseball contest played at Grizzlies Ballpark in Sauget Monday.

The Bombers took a 3-0 lead in the second inning then tallied three more in the seventh.

Both teams had only one hit. Corey Hoopingarner had a single and an RBI for the winners while Josiah Maxey and Cade Schaub had an RBI each.

Adam Atwood threw a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts and no walks.

Brownstown/St. Elmo is now 7-12-1 on the season.

At Dieterich

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and went on for a 6-1 victory over Dieterich Monday.

Kendall Morris threw a two-hitter with three walks and eight strikeouts for the win on the mound.

Meanwhile, Blayzz Verdeyen finished with two singles and two RBI for the winners while Jackson Gurgel and Carter Verdeyen had two singles each. Ben Bridges and Connor Manhart had a single and an RBI each.

Dieterich was led by Jaxon Funneman and Landen Keck with a single each. The Maroons tallied seven errors.

At Neoga

South Central finished with eight hits and eight runs in an 8-1 victory over Neoga Monday.

The Cougars stepped out to a 2-0 opening inning lead and tallied three runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

South Central was led by Callaway Smith with two singles and an RBI, Colton Smith with two singles, Trevan Sidwell with three RBI and Maddox Robb with a single and two RBI.

Coen West went six innings with nine strikeouts. He allowed one hit and two walks.

Neoga was led by Ethan O'Dell with a single and an RBI and Brock Lanham and Carter Young with a single each.

Edwards County tallied a run in the second and one in the sixth to edge Newton 2-0 in Monday action.

Edwards County finished with five hits while Newton had four.

The Eagles were led by Drake Wolf, Dylan Gier, Dominic Baltzell and Luke Farley with a single each.

Max Meinhart suffered the loss, going six ininngs, allowing two runs on five hits, three walks while striking out five.
