T-town Beats N.C., Altamont, WSS, Newton Win In H.S. Baseball

LOUISVILLE -- Teutopolis broke a 1-1 opening inning tie with a run in the third and went on to down North Clay (Louisville) by a 4-1 tally in a high school baseball game heard on KJ Country 102.3. Tuesday.

With two outs in the first inning, the Wooden Shoes' Mick Niebrugge singled and advanced farther on an error. Evan Waldhoff then came up and singled Niebrugge home. Mitch Koester followed that with a double but the inning ended with the third out.

North Clay tied the score. Jack Compton led off with a single. Ayden Jones followed with a single and Cody Zimdars hit a sacrifice fly that brought Compton home to knot the score.

T-town had the bases loaded in the second. Zac Niebrugge singled but was throwm out at second. Brett Kreke doubled. Gaddis and Worman drew back-to-back walks to load the bases but the Cardinals got out of the inning without any damage.

T-town moved ahead with a run in the third. With two outs on the board, Austin Borries singled. Devin Kreke followed with a single and Zac Niebrugge also singled to bring Borries home and T-town held a 2-1 lead.

The Shoes rumbled again in the foruth as Davin Worman and M. Niebrugge had back-to-back singles but the Cardinals got out of the frame unscathed.

North Clay then did some rumbling of its own with a single by Cody Zimdars and a double by Cayden Craig. But the next three batters went down in order.

T-town scored another run in the sixth as Brett Kreke led off the frame with a single. He was sacrificed over by Garrett Gaddis. Worman then followed with a single that scored Gaddis and the Shoes led 3-1.

The final run came in the seventh as Waldhoff reached on an error and came home on a single by Devin Kreke.

T-town finished with 13 hits led by B. Kreke with a single and double, Koester with a double, D. Kreke and Z. Niebrugge had two singles and an RBI each and Worman and M. Niebrugge with two singles each. Waldhoff added a single and an RBI.

North Clay was led by Evan Clifton with two singles, Cayden Craig had a double. Zimdars had a single and an RBI.

Addis picked up the pitching victory, going four innings, allowing one run on four hits, one walk and striking out three. Waldhoff came on to throw the final three innings, allowing no runs on three hits and one strikeout.

At Mulberry  Grove

Altamont trailed Mulberry Grove 1-0 and didn't cut loose until the third inning, then tallied eight and ended this game in the fourth with nine more runs for a 17-2 victory Tuesday.

The Indians finished with 17 hits and were aided by four Aces errors and 10 walks. Clayton Arnold led the way with two singles, a double and two RBI. Keegan Schultz with a single, double and three RBI, Eli Miller two singles and two RBI and Dyson Wagner with a double and an RBI. Ethan Robbins and Riley Berg added an RBI each.

Miller went the distance for the Indians, allowing two runs on four hits, two walks and striking out five.

At Kinmundy

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged South Central, 7-6 in Tuesday action.

The Hatchets trailed South Central 4-3 after the second inning then tallied two runs in the third and two in the fourth to lead 7-5. South Central attempted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh only to fall a run short.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was outhit by a 10-7 count, but three of its seven hits were home runs. Blayzz Verdeyen hit two home runs and had four RBI while Kendall Morris had a solo homer. Carter Verdeyen added two singles.

South Central was led by Colton Smith with three singles, a home run and three RBI, Trevor Sidwell with two singles, Maddox Robb a double and two RBI and Callaway Smith with a double.

Jackson Gurgel started the game on the mound, going 2.1 innings allowing five runs, two walks and striking out three. Kendall Morris went four innings, allowing one run on five hits, four walks and striking out 12.

At Kinmundy

At Newton

This game went eight innings before Newton pulled out a 4-2 victory oer Lawrenceville Tuesday.

Lawrenceville took a 2-0 lead in the fifth but Newton tied in the sixth and that's where the score stood until the bottom of the eighth.

Newton had six hits led by Gus Bierman with a single, double and two RBI and Payton Harris with a single and an RBI.

Newton then hosted Neoga and blanked the Indians, 11-0 in six innings.

The Eagles stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and finished the game with a seven-run sixth.

Isaac Flowers led the way with a single, two doubles and three RBI. R. Tharp had two singles and an RBI. Drake Wolf had two RBI, Bierman a single and two RBI and  Harris and Luke Farley a single and an RBI each. Max Meinhart and Gavin Meinhart added an RBI each.

Neoga was led by Brock Lanham, Colin Blazich and James Ballinger with a single each.

Bartheleme picked up the pitching win, going five innings, allowing three hits and striking out four.

Dieterich faced Marshall but was a handed a 7-2 loss Tuesday.

Marshall edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead then tacked on a single run in the second and five in the fourth.

Dieterich's runs came in the sixth and seventh innings.

Dieterich was led by Andrew Hall with two singles and two RBI.
