Father McGivney Downs Altamont In High School Baseball Action

GLEN CARBON -- In the lone area high school baseball contest that got played Monday, Father McGivney handed Altamont a 15-7 loss.

Father McGivney finished with 13 hits while four pitchers held Altamont to five.hits. The Indians aided the Griffins by committing six errors.

The winners opened with four runs in the first inning. The Griffins moved the score to 5-0 in the third and 9-0 in the fourth.

Altamont finally broke free with two runs in the top of the fifth but Father McGivney came back to also tally two runs to lead 11-2. Both teams scored four in the sixth and Altamont finished out with one in the seventh.

Altamont had five hits led by Kaidyn Miller with a home run and four RBI. Kaden Davis added two singles and two RBI while Keegan Schultz had a double and an RBI.

Isaac Wendler went 4.1 innings for Father McGivney, giving up one run on one hit, three walks and striking out six.

Getting the big hits for the Griffins were Mason Holmes with a single, triple and four RBI, Nicholas Franklin with a single, double and three RBI, Drew Kleinheider with a double and Nathaniel Terhaar with two singles.
