Neoga Downs BSE In NTC Tourney, Shoes Claim DH, Altamont Wins In HS Baseball

ST. ELMO -- Neoga High School handed Brownstown/St. Elmo an 11-1 loss in five innings as the National Trail Conference Basebal Tournament opened play Friday with one game.

Neoga edged out to a 3-1 opening inning lead. The two teams were quiet through the next two innings before Neoga moved ahead 5-1 in the fourth and finished the contest in the fifth with six runs.

Matt Propst had two singles for the winners while Colin Blazich, and Josiah Gentry had a single and two RBI each. Landon Titus finished with two RBI.

BSE ended the contest with four hits and seven errors. Cade Schaub had a double and Collin Maxey a single and an RBI. BSE ended the season at 7-14.

James Ballinger went four innings, allowing one run on three hits, two walks while striking out four.

No. 9 Neoga now faces top-seeded St. Anthony at 4 p.m. at Paul Smith Field, Dieterich travels to Altamont and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg heads to South Central, all 4 p.m. games.

At St. Elmo

At Centralia

Teutopolis and  Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran split a doubleheader Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes won the opener by edging the Stallions, 2-1 in 10 innings.

The Shoes took a 1-0 lead in the third and CORL came back to knot the score in the bottom of the eighth.

T-town had four hits and was aided by four CORL errors. Garrett Gaddis, Davin Worman, Mick Niebrugge and Devin Kreke had a single each for the Shoes. Worman added an RBI.

Alex Kremer picked up the win, going the last three innings, allowing no walks, one hit and striking out two. He came on in relief of Gaddis who went seven innings, giving up only two hits, one run  and two walks while striking out a whopping 13 batters.

In the second game, the Stallions struck first, scoring three runs in the opening inning. T-town came back with two in the top of the second but CORL answered back with two in the bottom of the frame to lead 5-2.

The Wooden Shoes pulled within 5-4 in the top of the fourth then knotted the score at 5-5 in the fifth. But CORL tallied the winning run in the bottom of the sixth.

T-town outhit CORL by a 10-8 count. Dylan Hartman had a single, double and drove in two runs for the Shoes. Gaddis a double and an RBI, Carter Hoene had a double and Jake Bushur two singles. Jason Kreke added a single and an RBI and Austin Borries an RBI.

At Altamont

Altamont banged out 12 hits, was aided by four errors and finished out with a 17-2 victory in four innings over Woodlawn Saturday.

Altamont broke a 2-2 opening inning tie with a run in the second, then added on three in the third and finished the game in fhe fourth with 11 runs.

The Indians were led in hitting by Kade Miller with a single, home run and two RBI, Kaden Davis and Ethan Robbins with a single, triple and an RBI each, Dillan Elam and Riley Berg had two singles and threeR BI each. Nathan Stuemke added a single and an RBI while Eli Miller and Justin Magelitz had an RBI each.

Milleville went 1.1 innings, allowing no hits, no runs, no walks while striking out two for the win. He came on in relief and then was relieved by E. Miller who went the final two innings, striking out four.

At Altamont
