Shoes Blank South Central Monday; Other Area Scores

Teutopolis continues to roll this fall, blanking the South Central Cougars Monday 12-0 in a five-inning contest.

The Shoes put up an eight-spot in the first inning, then added three runs in the third and a final tally in the fifth while collecting 11 hits.

Carter Hoene posted a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts against zero walks. Zane Montes took the loss for the Cougars, allowing the eight first inning runs, six earned, on seven hits, walking one and fanning two. Montes allowed a Davin Worman home run. Brody Markley pitched the final four innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four.

Colby Bursott's double and Maddox Robb's single were the only Cougar hits.

Altamont posted a road win shutout, defeating Wayne City Monday 13-0 in five innings.

The Indians scored two runs each in the first and third innings, then posted a nine-run fourth inning. Altamont scored their runs on eight hits. 

Clayton Arnold pitched a three-hit shutout for Altamont, walking one and fanning four. Dillan Elam homered for the Indians.

North Clay/Clay City posted a 12-2 win over Odin Monday. The Cardinals improved to 7-5 on the season, 2-3 in National Trail Conference play.

Webber Township beat Neoga 2-0 Monday.

The Indians were held to two hits...singles by Matt Propst and Josiah Gentry. 

Neoga's pitchers only allowed seven hits. Landon Titus pitched three innings, allowing one earned run on four hits and striking out two against no walks. Brock Lanham pitched three innings, allowing one earned run on three hits, walking one and fanning seven.

In junior high action, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Newton St. Thomas 5-3 Monday. Griffin Bierman took the loss despite striking out eight in six innings of work. Top St. Thomas hitters included Quincy Fulton with a triple and single, Beau Bennett wth two singles, and Carter Barthelme with a double.

St. Thomas finished regular season play with a 6-2 record.
