The No. 18 was important to Effingham Junior High School's baseball squad Wednesday.

The Mustangs banged out 18 hits and tallied an 18-5 win over Flora Floyd Henson.

Big innings included a five-run second and an eight-run sixth.

Ian Kinkelaar had a single, double and two RBI while Carson Fox had three singles and three RBI and Westin Hayes a double and three RBI. Daegan Mooney added a single, double and two RBI. Hank Nelson led in RBI with four and had two singles. Elliott Braddy had three singles and Jenner Pals two singles and an RBI.

Kinkelaar went five innings, allowing five runs on five hits, three walks and striking out four as he took the pitcher's win.

At Kinmundy

Effingham Sacred Heart tallied a 13-10 victory over South Central in Wednesday action.

South Central held a 6-4 lead after two innings and pushed that to 9-4 after four. But the Shamrocks started a comeback with six runs in the fifth to knot the score at 10-10 then won the contest in the seventh with three runs.

Sacred Heart was on offensively with 20 hits led by Nash Wernsing with two singles, three doubles and two RBI, Freddie Jansen with a single, two doubles and two RBI, Owen Schuette with two singles and two RBI, Gabe Traub with three singles, Lucas McDevitt and Bryce Hayes with two singles each. Hayes had two RBI and McDevitt one. Logan Roedl added a single and an RBI.

Hayes was the winning pitcher.

Sacred Heart is back in action Friday against Newton St. Thomas.

At Toledo

Newton St. Thomas struck early and went on for a 14-4 victory over Cumberland in six innings Wednesday.

St. Thomas took a 2-0 lead in the first, tacked on two in the second, five in the third and four in the fourth to lead 10-3. St. Thomas then had a four-run sixth.

Quincy Fulton had a single, home run and two RBI while Beau Bennett had two singles and two RBI, C. Barthelme a double and an RBI, B. Herman a single and an RBI and E. Michl two RBI.

Dylan Earnest was the winning pitcher, going four innings, allowing three runs on four hits, five walks and four strikeouts. St. Thomas is now 4-0 on the season and is back in action Friday hosting Effingham Sacred Heart.

Cumberland was led by Gavin Wormhoudt with a single and an RBI. Five other players had a single each and Reed Walker added an RBI.
