In the battle of the two Effingham junior high baseball teams, the Mustangs came out a 13-2 winner over Effingham St. Anthony Thursday.

The Mustangs finished the contest with 14 hits while holding the Bulllpups to four hits.

Effingham edged out to a 2-1 second inning lead and the Bullpups tied in the third. Effingham then had a two-run fourth, a five-run fifth and a four-run sixth.

The Mustangs were led by Hank Nelson with a single and a two-run homer. He finished with three RBI. Westin Hayes had two singles, a double and two RBI, Ian Kinkelaar with three singles and an RBI, TJ Raddatz with three singles, Jenner Pals with two singles and an RBI and Carson Fox with a double and three RBI.

St. Anthony had four hits led by Conner Storm with a double and Mason Storm with two singles and an RBI. Andrew Wagner added an RBI.

Hayes was the winning pitcher, going 3.2 innings, allowing no runs on one hit, two walks and six strikeouts.

At Sigel

Sigel St. Michael hosted South Central and send the visitors home with a 12-2 loss in Thursday action.

The Sharpshooters edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead, then had a four-run second and a three-run fifth around single runs in the third, fourth and sixth.

St. Michael's A. Heuerman led the way in hitting with a single, double and an RBI while N. Platz had two singles and three RBI. E. Fearday added two singles and T. Durdel had a single and two RBI. L. Dittamore had a single and an RBI.

The Falcons were led by C. Tockstein with a single and an RBI.

Heuerman picked up the pitching win, going 4.1 innings, allowing no runs on two hits, two walks and striking out two.

Altamont Lutheran took a 3-0 first inning lead and went on down Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City by a 13-4 tally Thursday.

The winners had nine hits in the contest and CHBC committed six errors.

CHBC had three hits led by Max Kircher with a single and two RBI and Connor Vaughn with a single and an RBI.

Altamont Lutheran players were listed by numbers only.

Both teams gave up nine walks in the contest.

Cumberland blanked Altamont by a 12-0 count Thursday.

The Raiders moved ahead 3-0 in the first inning then had a nine-run fourth to end the contest.

Gatlin Murphy had a single and drove in two runs while Colby Roedl finished with no hits but four RBI. Andrew Swim, Aydan Oakley and Reed Walker had a single and an RBI each for Cumberland.
