McDevitt, Harper, Hull, Nichols Named To All-Apollo Baseball Teams

Josh McDevitt earned First Team honors on the All-Apollo Conference baseball team.

Four Effingham High School baseball players were named to the All-Apollo Conference First and Second Teams.

Josh McDevitt, a senior, was named to the First Team Pitchers along with Blake Wolters, a senior from Mahomet-Seymour and Sammy Driscoll, a sophomore from Mount Zion.

Named to the Second Team Pitchers were Wyatt Mammen, a junior from Lincoln, Jack Helms, a senior from Mattoon and Alec Bergman, a junior from Mahomet-Seymour.

First Team Position Players from Effingham were Jack Harper and Quest Hull, both seniors. Other team members were Colbie Glenn, a junior from Lincoln, Carter Johnson, a senior, Carter Seik, a senior, Tyson Finch, a junior and Blake Wolters, a senior, all from Mahomet-Seymour and Charleston's Alec Sellers and William Applegate, both seniors.

Second Team Position Players were Effingham's Nichols, a senior, Drew Hayes, a sophomore from Lincoln, Sammy Driscoll, a sophomore from Mount Zion, Sammy Driscoll, a sophomore and Cade Starrick, a junior from Mahomet-Seymour, Josh Sipes, a senior and Caiden Pruitt, a senior from Charleston, Madden Johnson and Joey Stewart, both sophomores from Mattoon and Baron Odam, a sophomore, from Taylorville.

Mahomet-Seymour won the regular season championship with a 10-2 record followed by Effingham 7-5, Mount Zion 7-5, Mattoon 6-5-1, Lincoln 5-6-1, Charleston 5-7 and Taylorville 1-11.

Effingham finished fourth at the Class 3A State Tournament.
