There was a lot of high school baseball played in the area on Saturday.

Here's a recap:

ALTAMONT 6, COWDEN-HERRICK/BEECHER CITY 1

CHBC broke a scoreless tie with a run in the third, but Altamont responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning. The Indians added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Altamont outhit the Bobcats, 7-2. Clayton Wojcik and Blake Mueller picked up the hits, Mueller scored the only run, and Wyatt Rueff picked up the only RBI. For Altamont; Nathan Shepard singled and scored a run; Mason Robinson singled twice, scored a run and drove in a run; Nathan Stuemke drove in a run; Kaden Miller singled and scored; Kienon Eirhart singled; Carter Siebert singled; Dillan Elam walked, scored and drove in a run; Logan Cornett singled and scored twice. Wyatt Phillips got the win for Altamont, allowing the run on two hits and two walks in three innings of work and strking out seven; Carter Siebert pitched two innings, allowing no runs or hit, walked three and struck out two; Nathan Stuemke pitched two innings, allowing no runs or hits, walking one and fanning three; For CHBC: Kaidyn Calame pitched five innings, allowing the six runs, three earned, on six hits, walking two and striking out two; Rueff pitched the final inning, allowing one hit and striking out three. 

VANDALIA 11, DIETERICH 8

Dieterich scored two first inning runs, but Vandalia scored six runs in the second inning. Dieterich scored three times in the second inning to pull within 6-5. Vandalia scored twice in the third to make it 8-5, Dieterich scored a run in the fourth, Vandalia scored once in the fifth and twice in the sixth, while Dieterich scored twice in the seventh to make it close. For Dieterich: Pete Britton singled twice and doubled and scored twice; Andrew Hall singled twice and drove in a run; Justin Boerngen scored a run; Noah Dill singled twice and drove in three runs; Jaxon Funneman singled and walked twice, drove in a run and scored a run; Sam Hardiek doubled and singled and drove in three runs; Lucas Westendorf singled and walked and scored a run; Mason Lidy walked twice and scored twice; and Dominic Ashley walked twice and scored a run; on the mound, Dill went 5-1/3 innings, allowing 11 runs, 10 earned, on 13 hits, walking one and striking out six. Garrett Niebrugge pitched the final 1-2/3 innings, walking one and striking out three.

EFFINGHAM 11, TAYLORVILLE 0 (5 INNS)

EFFINGHAM 12, TAYLORVILLE 2 (5 INNS)

In the shutout, the Hearts scored four times in the first inning, twice in the third, and five times in the fifth. For Effingham: Spencer Fox singled and scored a run; Kaden Koeberlein singled twice, scored twice and drove in a run; Jack Harper tripled and scored; Quest Hull homered and doubled, scored three times and drove in two runs; Myles Maxedon tripled, doubled and singled, scored twice and drove in three runs; Camden Raddatz singled, scored and drove in two runs; Colten Webb homered, scored and drove in two runs; and Evan Waymoth walked. On the mound, Kaiden Nichols pitched a one-hit shutout for the Hearts, walking one and fanning six

In the other contest, the Hearts scored seven times in the second inning, three times in the third, once in the fourth and twice in the fifth. Taylorville scored twice in the third inning. At the plate for Effingham: Spencer Fox doubled, scored and drove in two runs; Kaden Koeberlein doubled, walked, scored twice and drove in two runs; Jack Harper doubled and singled twice, walked, scored twice and drove in a run; Quest Hull singled and walked, scored and drove in a run; Myles Maxedon tripled and singled and drove in three runs, Camden Raddatz tripled and singled, scored twice and drove in a run; Colten Webb walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run; Evan Waymoth walked; Kaiden Nichols singled three times, scored twice and drove in a run; and Colton Loy scored a run. On the mound for Effingham: Josh McDevitt pitched 2-2/3 innings, walking one and fanning eight, Kaden Koeberlein pitched two innings, gave up two runs on six hits with two strikeouts, and Andrew Donaldson got the final out.

ST. ANTHONY 5, NEWTON 1

The Bulldogs saw Newton score in the third, but tied the game in the sixth, then scored four times in the seventh to post the win. Reich singled twice Mahaffey singled once with Reich driving in the only run. For St. Anthony, Beau Adams scored a run; Eli Levitt singled and scored; Brock Fearday singled twice, walked and drove in a run; Connor Roepke walked twice and scored a run; Aiden Lauritzen walked three times; Max Koenig singled twice and drove in two runs; Henry Brent scored twice. On the mound for Newton, Einhorn gave up three runs, two earned, in 6-2/3 innings, walking four and fanning seven, Bierman faced three batters with a hit and two walks and two runs, and McClure got an out and gave up a hit. For St. Anthony, Levitt pitched three innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts, and Fearday went four innings, allowing a hit and striking out two. Fearday got the win in relief.

WINDSOR/STEW-STRAS 19, SULLIVAN 1

The Hatchets scored early and often, plating four runs in the first, six in the second, and nine in the third, pounding out 12 hits in the four inning win; for the Hatchets: Austin Wittenberg walked and scored, driving in two runs; Carter Chaney doubled and singled two times, scored three times and drove in a run; Tyler Wetherell doubled and singled, scored twice and drove in two runs; Jordan Wittenberg doubled and singled, scored three times and drove in two runs; Jackson Gurgel doubled and singled, walked, scored three times and drove in two runs; Kendall Morris singled, walked three times, and scored twice; Connor Manhart singled twice, scored twice and drove in three runs; Rhett Rincker walked twice, scored twice and drove in two runs; Ben Bridges walked twice, scored and drove in a run. On the mound for the Hatchets, Wetherell went three innings, allowing a run on two htis and a walk, striking out two; Chaney pitched a clean inning, striking out two; WSS is now 16-5 on the spring

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 5, TEUTOPOLIS 2

In the Friday game, Teutopolis scored in the sixth inning to tie the game. The Shoes scored five in the top of the 10th, then held on for the win as Highland scored four times in the bottom of the 10th. For Teutopolis: Logan Roepke homered and singled, walked twice, three times and drove in a run; Bennet Thompson doubled and singled, walked, scored and drove in two runs; Evan Waldhoff walked and scored; Brett Kreke singled and drove in a run; Caleb Siemer doubled and singled, walked and drove in three runs; Garett Gaddis doubled, walked twice and scored; Caleb Bloemer singled twice, scored and drove in two runs; Conner Siemer doubled, scored and drove in a run; Ben Goeckner singled twice and scored; Zac Niebrugge scored a run; Conner Hoelscher scored a run. On the mound, Logan Lawson pitched seven innings, allowing six runs, five earned, walked four and fanned four. Caleb Siemer pitched three innings, allowed four runs, two earned, on a hit and three walks while striking out and getting the win. 

In the loss to Edwardsville, the Tigers banged out 13 hits to two for the Shoes; Teutopolis scored runs in the second and the fifth; for the Shoes, Brett Kreke homered and Bennet Thompson singled. On the mound: Joey Niebrugge pitched two innings, allowing six runs on six hits and five walks; Zac Niebrugge pitched two innings, allowing seven runs, six earned, on seven hits and three walks, with one strikeout

In the loss to Glenwood, the Titans were up 3-0 until the Shoes scored single runs in the second and third to make it 3-2. Glenwood scored in the fifth and sixth to win by three; For Teutopolis: Bennet Thompson walked and scored; Evan Waldhoff singled twice; Brett Kreke singled; Caleb Siemer walked; Garrett Gaddis singled and walked twice; Caleb Bloemer singled and walked and drove in a run; and Conner Hoelscher scored a run. On the mound, Garrett Gaddis pitched six innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks with a strikeout; and Connor Hoelscher pitched a clean inning with two strikeouts

Teutopolis is now 11-13 on the spring.
